How To Make A Wedding Invitation With Video
Have you seen the trend of video invitations?
These one minute invites can be an efficient and aesthetically interesting way to get those save-the-dates out to friends and family. Not only are you saving time and materials on mailing printed invitations, but a video is unique for adding movement and other elements to an invitation. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with sending out both print and video invitations to deliver event details to guests. You may want to still send handwritten or print invitations to close friends, but only send a video to others.
There’s three styles of video invitations you might consider.
1) Video Invitations With Footage of the Couple
It’s common to restrict video invitations to graphic elements. However, a videographer can film lifestyle clips of the couple to make the invitation more personable and that much more distinguished from a printed invitation. If the couple chooses to have an engagement-photo-session, this would be the time that makes the most sense to also have video taken.
2) Video Invitations With Photos of the Couple
A nice middle ground might be to skip video and incorporate photos into the invitation. Movement is still possible through animation. Be sure to send photos to the editor in the highest quality possible.
3) Video Invitations With Only Text & Design Elements
If you’re happy with a video invitation being restricted to text and design elements, it’s wise to hire a video editor who is also design-minded. Not every video producer is also a graphic designer, so it’s important to find someone interdisciplinary with motion graphics experience. If you’re on a budget, it’s possible to find templates online that may match the feeling of your wedding and allow you to replace the text with information specific to your wedding.

But the possibilities are endless!
Don’t be afraid to get creative. You might even hire a painter or illustrator to incorporate their work into an invitation. Their work can be re-used for signage, welcome cards and more on the day of the wedding.
